Write music every day and practice the guitar and piano. An original sound is the most important thing and your commercial songs will come from your original sound, not the other way around.

Access to music education. Remember when Motown put all their artists in theory class?

I didn't invent it, but... I think the most important part of your identity as a recording artist is if the song sounds like you, no matter the framework.
