Cornelious Horn is an Artist who plays for fun, learn randomly and have no bound limits when it comes to genre, quality or instrument usage. His influences come from melodic heavy rock, film effects, theme music and
perhaps the atmosphere in classical pieces. Cornelious began his solo project in 2015. He decided that his goals would be to release whatever he wanted to release and perform when the time comes simply because he wants people to know where he began and where he is headed. Here is what Cornelious has to say:
What Musical Genre Do You Feel Best Describes Your Music And How Would You Describe Your Sound?
I´m not an expert when it comes to music genres, but I think for now, that my songs sounds like: Electronic alternative rock with melodious and perhaps dramatic or theatrical sound.
My lyrics contains words and phrases that hopefully motivate listeners to be a better and stronger person. If not, I have failed for now. My main goal is to make motivational songs :)
How Did You Get Your Name? Is There A Story?
My story is a small amount of logic but mostly absurd. The name "Cornelious" have been with me for many years before this. At first, it was just a name I used when ordered fast food, taxi or others services like that. Simply because they usually never ask, what is your name? Instead they ask which name they should put the order on. Because of that, I thought why not just give them a false name and if they ever ask, I will give them a story and guide them to ask people for the real names regarding orders and not just "a name" : P
"Horn" that is "my last name" as an artist. It is just a Latin meaning of Cornelious, I think.
"Cornelious Horn" seems to be available worldwide. I don´t ever want to experience that I need to change my artist name because someone else is named the same.
What Are or Have Been Your Musical Influences?
Melodious, groovy and sometimes heavy music, that makes your body naturally want to dance / enjoy. Rock, Blues, Funk, EDM etc.
What Are You Working On Now? Any Future Collaborations We Can Look Forward To?
I´m always working on the next release. The next official one, is a supercool rock song called "Moments" or "Breathtaking Moments" (Have not decided the name yet) and will be released early 2019.
This year, I might release a EDM song called "Pride" because I´m currently writing one song for a national song contest that ends in March. If I don´t win it, I will keep it for future live shows or perhaps release it as well :-o
Another cool thing that is gonna happen this year, is that "Going Blind" will suddenly be renewed within it´s release. So if you hear this song now, you will hear how "cheap" it sounds. But in maybe half a year, it will sound so freaking cool and different. I´m looking so forward to that! "Going Blind" is basically "Cornelious Horn´s" business plan and that will remind me of what kind of music / lyrics I will always make.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal In The Music Industry? What Is Your Plan Of Action?
My goal is to become "the hottest songwriter" and "artist" in my hometown. I want to work with music mainly in this area, but keep the music available worldwide, because it does not cost anything more to do so. Simply because, there is so many musicians in our world and I don´t want to be a big rival for anyone. If I ever end up with completing these goals, I will still not be a big rival here locally, because my wish is to only have a few concerts per year. Quality, not quantity :)
What Is Your Favorite Track To Perform Live and Why?
"Goal Seeker". Why:
I just love singing this. For me, this song is about getting rid of anxiety or fear, and if I ever feel that I can´t do something, I can just sing "Goal Seeker" one round in my study room or in the car. After that, I feel ready for anything and would definitely be able to do a crazy bungee jump or something similar, right after performing this. (All though I am scared of heights): P
The song "Goal Seeker" begins quiet, builds itself up to it´s maximum in the middle and finishes like something between that in the end.
"I cannot wait to play this song with a proper band "live" instead of performing the DJ version or a sing back version" 8-)
What Has Been The Biggest Challenge In Your Career Thus far?
The biggest challenge is to have time for this and everything else. Luckily I just do this for fun, so I have no big problems with anything for now. But I feel sometimes that I let my friends and family down a bit, because I prioritize this often. But is it wrong to prioritize the stuff that makes you happy?
What’s Your Typical Songwriting Process?
I usually begin on the piano downstairs in the living room. Then I move the idea up my guitar or bass guitar in my study room before I complete the creation while using a music program and or jam to this. I often sing about absurd phrases or vegetables just to find the right melodies and rhythms I am looking for. It is usually quite fun and sounds horrible X-D
How Has Social Media Influenced Your Career As An Artist?
It´s easier to connect with people from the entire world and draw / share inspiration.
What Are Some Tracks and Artists Currently On Your Playlist?
I love listening to basically everything nowadays, here is a few random hits from my daily playlist: "Shut up and Dance" by WALK TO THE MOON, "Til it´s Gone" by Yelawolf, "She´s American" by the 1975, "Fools Gold" by Dagny, "Lover where do you live" by Highasakite, "License to Kill" by Gladys Knight, "Blind Faith" by Chaos & Status, "Sixpounder" By Children of Bodom, "Raging" by Kygo, "Human" by Rag´n´Bone man, "rockstar" by Post Malone etc, "Alpha Waves" by Pow Pow, and everything from Muse, Queen, Adele, Bruno Mars and lady Gaga.
What Did You Do Before You Started Making Music?
Working, playing DDR (Do you know what that is??!!), hanging out with friends and a bit of travel.
Any Advice For Young People (Men or Women) That Want To Succeed In The Music World?
Don´t ever forget to have fun, no matter how famous you get. Many musicians are actually not having fun. I know several and have heard of dozens. Some even only do it because they have to, because it is their job, which is understandable. If you ever end up like that, make sure that you have a fun side-project, so that you get to play for fun as well ;)
What Would You Change In The Music Industry If You Were A Top Music Executive?
Definitely motivate people to have fun and be safe.
Maybe, do something about the pressure certain artist live underneath. After all, depression is something MANY musicians experience and unfortunately solve it in the wrong way.
How Do You Feel About Originality?
I´m sure it is the best! If you have a great product and you act original. I´m sure you will be successful as long as you want too.
I look mostly up to artists that create their own stuff and never play others. Example, remixing original music that is not theirs, don´t apply to me at all. If a song, truly needs a remix, I think the artist itself should do it.
